Camille Fournet’s Workshop — Watch Strap Making

Join us for the second edition of Hide & Seek — Guild Visits & Trips, our format dedicated to visiting workshops, factories, tanneries, suppliers, studios, and other places connected to leathercraft and the wider craft trade.

For this edition, we’ll visit the Camille Fournet New York workshop, where Ben & Will will open up the world of high-end watch strap making, sharing techniques drawn from their experience in the luxury watch industry.

We’ll demonstrate the process from leather selection and preparation of the individual elements through interior construction, skiving, strap construction, stitching, personalization, and finishing.

We’ll take a close look at the alligator and calfskin used for fine watch straps and discuss the particular construction requirements and finishing standards associated with straps made for Swiss watchmakers.

This is a craft demonstration, not a hands-on workshop. Members will be able to watch the process closely, ask questions, and explore the techniques and decisions involved at each stage, while getting a glimpse into the craftsmanship tradition of Camille Fournet, whose work in Northern France has been closely connected to fine watch straps and Swiss watchmaking for more than 80 years.

Workshop Safety

This event takes place inside an active leathercraft workshop. Guests will remain in designated areas and will not operate machinery, tools, or other workshop equipment. Please follow any safety instructions provided by the Guild or Camille Fournet team during the demonstration.

Please note that the workshop may contain operating machinery, tools, adhesives, leather dust, and other materials associated with leathercraft production.
